Jackson recently won first place at the Thomas Hart Benton competition in Neosho, Missouri with her painting, “An Abundant Harvest.”

She competed against 54 artists from 26 cities in the four-state region of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas. The Thomas Hart Benton competition brings artists together and provides a venue for exhibiting, learning and sharing.

A Grove, Oklahoma resident, for over 25 years, Jackson studied art at Colby Community College in western Kansas and at Oklahoma Christian College in Edmond, Oklahoma.

She is best known for her portrait work.  Her other awards include the “Best of Show” at the 2007 Bartlesville Association 54th Annual Spring Show Critic's Choice Exhibition and the 2007 Solo Show at the Brown & Brown Art Gallery, Grove, OK.

Since 2000, Jackson has traveled extensively to Spain and Europe which has provided inspiration for many of her current paintings.

I laugh when I remember at age six being quite amazed with my teacher. "She doesn't even know a great artist when she sees one," I distinctly thought. That confidence, I suspect, was my gift from God that shaped the years that followed. Sketch books and drawing pencils were my birthday presents. Often I would sit and draw my grandfather from life.

I studied art at Colby Community College in western Kansas and at Oklahoma Christian College in Edmond, Oklahoma.

I find my inspiration increases greatly by traveling. This year I have taken time out to paint for a week in Kansas, and I took a two week trip to Colorado and New Mexico. During that time of travel, I blocked out two painting sessions a day.  It was really an intense time of creativity for me- experiences such as these stretch me and help me grow as an artist.

In 2000 and 2001, I painted in Germany and studied the works of the Masters in my travels, and again in 2006 I was privileged to travel to Spain and paint there.

My formal art schooling gave me an invaluable foundation to build upon, but there is nothing like the education that comes from the wonderful experience of painting, entering art shows, listening to critiques, and getting out in nature on a spring day to record the beauty of a dogwood in full bloom.

I consider my works to be representational and impressionistic.  This web gallery of my original oil paintings has been created to inspire you to begin collecting my work.... a still life or landscape, or perhaps a commissioned portrait of a loved one or pet. If you have never collected original works of art, I encourage you, start now. You will treasure them forever. They will enhance your life, as well as the lives of others. Enjoy my artwork!
