This painting is of the seaside boardwalk in Barcelona.  In the far distance you can see Montjuic Mountain and the Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter.  The Gypsies would often lay out their wares on sheets under the shade of the palms by the shipyards,and could remove them quickly if city officials came unexpectedly.  This exotic scene was beautiful, and I felt compelled to paint it.
